Never thought I would come to Madonna's defense, but damn shes probably one of the hardest working women in the music biz. Its hard to believe that she put out "Confessions on a Dance Floor", probably one of the BEST techno, dance albums of the last 10 years 3 years ago at age 47. This is the woman that asked fellow Michiganders The Stooges to play "Ray of Light" and "Burning Up" at her induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, because she was upset they have'nt been voted in yet. Very funny covers by the way. I really never liked anything she did untill "Like a Prayer". Some albums are stronger than others, but she has put out substantial body of work. Will she ever retire? Should she? who knows. Is it sexiest to think she should retire when The Stones are touring in their 60's?, Rod Steward still does tours. As long as people are buying her music, I say keep going.

I think Mojo was referring more to Ms. Ciccone's appearance rather than her music. I completely agree with Chris that it is sexist to insist that she retire at age 50, when Iggy, Mick, Nick, and heck, even Shane are still going at ages 50-60+. I, too, never really thought I'd come to her defense, although my respect for her has grown over the years. And her wanting the Stooges to cover her songs because they STILL haven't been inducted into the R&R HOF wins her points in my book.

That said, she shouldn't try to look like a 20 year old. Ever heard of aging gracefully?
